After claiming he knew who were the masterminds of chaos in 2017 polls, Sonko now faces multiple charges and is detained at Kamiti.

Kenyans fear for the former Nairobi governor as his situation is likened with Miguna Miguna and a trend that questions the Justice system.

Here are reactions from Lawyers and other government officials:

Gov Sonko is a THUG, has always been a THUG and will die a THUG…but even the archetypal THUG is entitled to DUE PROCESS of the law and EQUALITY before the law.

Samson Cherargei: “What they are doing to Sonko is pure political witch-hunt. I challenged NCIC to have a discussion with the President after he mentioned two tribes for long. Politicians taken to court by NCIC have an affiliation to DP Ruto.”

Otiende Amollo: “Sonko has been reckless with his speeches & actions lately. Someone did not remind him that in law, you can only confess against yourself not against somebody else even if we committed the offence together.”

Nothing will happen to Gov.Sonko if we have bold and independent Judiciary.Dictatorship will only thrive to the extend allowed by our Judiciary. The current plan is to bring as many spurious charges as possible. I hope the courts will take judicial notice of all these happenings

Alfred Mutua: Sonko was misled to think he can get away with everything. He has been behaving the same way for a period of time & was rewarded not only by the State but also the voters. But he is innocent until proven guilty. He should not be mistreated.#DayBreak@TrevorOmbija pic.twitter.com/WyZM1fHVY3

Otiende Amollo: Sonko’s has been a house build on impunity. The problem with impunity is when you lose favour with your protectors everything comes down crumbling & falls on you. Sonko has operated on impunity as way back as when I was ombudsman in 2012.#DayBreak@TrevorOmbija pic.twitter.com/MsfH4Xm5wV

The DCI wants to detain Sonko for 30 days pending investigations citing several counts against Sonko, including his being accused of procuring uniform resembling military attire, which he has previously been spotted wearing in contravention of the rules governing its use.
