Saturday, December 7, 2019 – The Office of the Inspector General of the National Police Service has released a press statement on the Mike Sonko Mbuvi arrest.
In the statement, the police will be pressing charges against the governor for resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer, and damaging press cameras.
The governor was arrested in Voi while traveling to Mombasa and is said to have bitten the hand of a police officer who attempted to arrest him.
Police in the press statement also warn Nairobians of possible demonstrations by youths organized by Sonko’s groups to cause disruption in Nairobi.
