Thursday, March 11, 2021, Nairobi – ODM leader Raila Odinga has tested positive for COVID-19. The former prime minister of Kenya is admitted at the Nairobi Hospital where he walked in for routine tests and was later reported to have tested positive for the coronavirus.
This follows his tour in Mombasa, Kenya’s coastal town where the virus had earlier spread rather quickly.
Raila’s son, Raila Jnr, had earlier said the former prime minister is recuperating well to help calm the nerves of his supporters.
The news comes in as Kenya received the second consignment of the COVID-19 vaccine as vaccination intensified with teachers and millitary-men being targeted.
In closely related news, Tanzania’s president Dr. Johm Pombe Magululi had been reported to have been flown into Kenya after testing positive for COVID-19. Speculation followed that Raila Odinga may have contracted the virus after visiting Tanzania’s president a visit in hospital.
Doctors have said that the former PM is upbeat about his health and will remain positive that he will recuperate from the virus.
