February 9, 2021, Nairobi – Former Nairobi governor Mike sonko has been released on a bond of KES 300,000.

This news follows the hearing of his case this morning that did not occur without the involvement of the police and drama. The Nairobi governor had earlier today been taken to hospital allegedly with a stomach problem, a move that some may have seen as a ploy to evade the court’s hearing.

Police then whisked the former governor away from hospital and took him to the Kiambu Law Courts where the hearing proceedings for his two cases took place.

The magistrate at the Kiambu Law Courts later released Mike Sonko on a bond of Ksh 300,000 for multiple cases of assault and robbery he is facing.

In similar developments, another court, Kahawa West Court will be hearing an application by the police seeking to detain the former governor on charges of suspected terrorism.

If granted, Sonko will be detained for another 30 days as investigations continue to be carried out by the police.
