Tourism CS Najib Balala has come out to justify Naomi Campbell’s appointment as Magical Kenya’s international ambassador.
Speaking during the issuance of certificates to some 60 researchers who did studies on the impacts of Covid-19 on travel and tourism industry, the CS was convinced Naoimi’s international networks will market Kenya.
“We have a framework to work around her and she accepted to do it for free. She offered herself because of her love and commitment to Kenya. We are now working on the details on how we can use her to promote the destination.”
While Naomi offered herself for free, the CS said influential Kenyans such as Lupita Nyo’ngo who many people backed for the role, proved inaccessible as the ministry has been trying to reach her for five years.
“I know everybody is asking why not Lupita. Lupita has commitments and her managers cannot allow us to access her. We’ve spent the last five years looking for Lupita,” Mr Balala said.
The CS was full of praise for Ms Campbell for her love and commitment to Kenya.
