Elgeyo-Marakwet County senator Kipchumba Murkomen has warned MCAs from receiving any promises to support the BBI.
In a tweet, Murkomen referred to a 2016 incident where MCAs were promised car grants worth 2 Million kenyan shillings.
He told them they should make sure the money hits the account before voting, suggesting a possible form of past trickery.
“In 2016 I was with the MCAs in Mombasa when they were each promised a car grant of KShs 2M susan kihika is my witness. If current MCAs have been bribed with car grant to pass BBI my advice to them irregardless is to make sure the money hits the account before voting. Otherwise…” his tweet read.
President Uhuru Kenyatta, DP Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga are in a vicious scramble for the over MCAs who are critical in determining the next stage the bill will take.
On Friday, day one of his four-day tour of Nyeri county, Uhuru met MCAs from Mt Kenya region in what was seen as a bid to rally them to support the BBI.
It is reported that the MCAs who had a meeting with the President at Sagana State Lodge agreed to pass the Bill.
