Education Cabinet secretary, Prof.George Magoha today at Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development(KICD) unveiled a platform for 2019 KCPE candidates to check the secondary schools they will be joining next year.
During the morning press, the CS said that candidates can now check the secondary school they have been admitted to through sending their index no. to 22263.
The CS also revealed that form one students are expected to report starting January 13, 2020, and latest January 17, 2020. He revealed the secondary schools that the top three students in this year KCPE 2019 will be joining as follows:
Flavian Onyango 439 marks (Chakol girls) has been selected to join Alliance Girls while June Cheptoo 439 marks to join Pangani Girls.
According to the Education CS, “ 95% of the students have been admitted to their school of choice”
He revealed that the top KCPE 2019 student choices were Pangani girls with 111, 817 (which has a capacity of only 336), Alliance High School and Kenya High School with 83,489 and 49,727 respectively.
He also announced that all candidates will secure a place in secondary school this year.
However, he acknowledged that the number of those who got above 400 marks has reduced from above 11,000 to 9,770 this year. This is from the National exam done from 29th to 31st November this year, where a total of 1,083,456 candidates (50.17% boys and 49.82% girls) sat for the exam.
