The United States has barred former Attorney General for Kenya Amos Wako from entering the United States.
The US government has cited involvement in serious corruption matters as the reason for banning the man who served in the A.G’s position for 20 years.
According to the statement by the U.S, today’s action sends a strong signal that the United States is continuing to be a strong partner to Kenya in the fight against corruption and propagating development agenda.
“Today, the Department designates former Kenyan Attorney General Amos Sitswila Wako due to his involvement in significant corruption.
“In addition to the designation of Mr. Wako, the Department is also publicly designating Wako’s wife, Flora Ngaira, and son, Julius Wako.” – Statement.
Amos Wako has been mentioned in strong corruption syndicates including Anglo Leasing, Goldenberg etc.
Others affected by today’s statement include his son Julius Wako, and his wife Flora Wako.
Amos Wako is currently the Senator of Busia on an ODM ticket.
